They design a 40% cheaper LED and less polluting

Experts from the Plastic Materials and Sustainability units of the Eurecat technology center in Catalonia, developed a hybrid manufacturing technology for LED screens that reduces their cost by 40% and by 50% the pollutant emissions during the manufacturing process.
A high-resolution 2D screen with lighter and finer backlight than the current ones was created, as well as a high-density 3D LED display with a new lens system that allows creating the three-dimensional effect without the need for glasses, and a flexible RGB display. large dimensions and reduced thickness.
This developed technology has made it possible to "manufacture the optical and electronic part of the screens in a single step, through a process of overinjection of optics on printed electronics", said the director of the Eurecat Plastic Materials unit, Encarna Escudero.
